Series Production of the New Glass/Glass Desert Modules

February 19, 2020

Solar energy must become competitive now, since the honeymoon period is over. Considering the recent pressure on the industry, the focus on innovation is much stronger than before.

Thanks to its latest innovations, the solar technology specialist, J.v.G. technology, is offering attractive opportunities for investors and enterprises. The high-temperature module from J.v.G. technology, also known as the Desert module, can be manufactured also in Glass/Glass design.

In these Glass/Glass modules, the “cell matrix” is protected by two glass discs. This offers many advantages: the risk of microscopic cracks is minimized, and heavy snowfall, storms and assembling pose far less risk for the modules. Just like the “normal” Desert modules, these Glass/Glass modules are also 100% free from PID and fully recyclable. While previously Glass/Glass modules were much heavier than other modules, the new modules from Jurawatt have the same weight as the EVA standard modules. Other benefits include: Desert modules tolerate continuous temperatures of 125 °C and peaks of 145 °C. When in service, they generate nearly 2-5% higher yield. And they can do so for a period of 40-50 years or more.

Everything Is Possible: Flexible and Multitalented New Modules

The new modules can be used as hybrid modules for power generation as well as for heat generation by integrating thermal collectors on the rear side. Optionally, you can use a ground heat exchanger or even warm water.

An Achievement for Humankind and the Environment – for Decades to Come

The new modules can be amortized for a period of more than 40 years. “At last, this development makes solar energy truly competitive against conventional energy sources,” explains Hans Thoma, General Manager of J.v.G. Group. Coal and nuclear energy are nowhere near competitive if we take the consequential costs into consideration.

Aesthetically Appealing Solutions – New Market Niche for Modules

Here’s something that may be of interest to house owners and architects: the new Desert glass modules look particularly high class and aesthetically appealing. Since they can be fitted with or without a frame, there are countless possible ways to integrate them into the building and shaping. They are very suitable for making shades and marquees. These features open up new markets for solar module manufacturers.
