23.06.2012 – “Germany and India in 2011 – 2012: endless possibilities.” This is the guideline for the current visit of the German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs in India. However, he will not only visit India, but Bangladesh as well. As a member of the business delegation, Patrick Thoma, Managing Director of Bavarian J.v.G. technology GmbH and of Jurawatt GmbH, is on board the same flight as Guido Westerwelle.

Freystadt/Oberpfalz – The programme is very tight for the two days on site on June 22nd and 23rd, 2012. The expectations are high on both sides. Patrick Thoma says: “Like many other innovative German companies, we are very keen on investing more in India. The subject of renewable energies and, in particular, photovoltaics, which is our specialty, also plays an important role in Bangladesh.”

The participants speak with Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of India, the Governor of Karnataka and the Chief Minister of the Region. On Saturday, the 23rd of June, they will continue to Dhaka. Here Dipu Moni, Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, has invited the politicians and economists. A conversation is planned with the Prime Minister for the evening.

As the Federal Foreign Office explained in its official announcement, the visit to the two Asian countries focuses on bilateral relations and the further expansion of the partnership. It is also about “promoting confidence in Europe and the Euro.” Guido Westerwelle is visiting India for the third time. In his capacity as Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, he visits Bangladesh for the first time.
