Desert Tropic Module
More Power with J.v.G technology GmbH
Why do you need a desert tropic module? Today, solar energy is being produced all over the world. But especially in the regions where the sun has its maximum power, solar modules are often exposed to extraordinary stress.
Stressors include extreme temperatures and temperature fluctuations, high atmospheric humidity, strong winds and sandstorms.
In many cases, off-grid deployment is also necessary. J.v.G. has dedicated itself to developing module technologies that are adapted specifically to withstand these extreme conditions
Our Desert Module Technology™ performs significantly higher than comparable modules, using the help of the “high-power temperature process.”

High irradiation generates more current and more power in solar modules, but also increases electrical resistive losses. Reoptimizing cell type and size as well as cell interconnectors allows for increased module power and energy yield. Also, higher irradiation leads to higher module temperature, which reduces the module energy. The passive and active cooling of modules improves energy yield and module performance.

Specific environmental conditions DESERT®/TROPIC®
Sunlight that reaches the earth travels through the earth’s atmosphere. The optical path from the sun to the equator is shorter than the path from the sun to Northern Europe, so less photons are absorbed by the earth’s atmosphere in the latter region. For this reason, the irradiation is higher in the Sun Belt regions.
High irradiation generates a high current and thereby high power in solar modules. But the higher current also leads to greater resistance in the electrical conductors inside the module and the solar cells. In the J.v.G. technology DESERT Modules, the solar cells and the busbars between the cells are optimized to reduce the electrical resistance and thus achieve increased module power and energy yield.

In the Sun Belt regions, the solar modules must withstand higher UV irradiation doses. Since all polymer materials are in general sensitive to UV illumination, the materials for DESERT Modules must be carefully selected to resist this impact. When using standard module materials, high UV doses can lead to brittle backsheets and the browning of EVA material. The J.v.G. technology Diamond DESERT Foil and the DESERT backsheet have excellent durability properties under UV exposure.
